    • Cross-style refill in black or blue

    Refill Replacement

    • To change the refill, hold the pen vertically and pull the two pen halves apart. Be careful not to drop the center band. The knurled end of the refill is now visible. Remove the old refill, screw in the new refill, and reassemble.

    • Shop for a C1 or “Cross style” refill. They are always screw in style refills. Brand names include Cross, Schmidt, Unibene, Garland, and more.

    • With reasonable care, your pen can become an heirloom object. Reasonable care means avoiding environments that can attack its fit and finish. Exposure to direct sunlight or extremes in temperature and humidity should be avoided. This is particularly true for natural materials like wood, antler, and leather. These materials naturally oxidize resulting in an aged, beautiful patina.
